Our Mission
At GASAN, our mission is to promote understanding and acceptance of individuals with Autism while advocating for equal opportunities that empower them to lead fulfilling lives. We believe that by fostering a supportive community, we can break down barriers and encourage a deeper appreciation for the unique strengths and perspectives of those on the autism spectrum. Did you know?
Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that significantly affects communication, social interaction, and behavior? It's referred to as a "spectrum" because the symptoms and their severity can vary widely from person to person. Typically, signs of Autism appear in early childhood, often before the age of 3, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and intervention to support individuals on the spectrum.
How you can help

Donations
At GASAN, we are dedicated to supporting the families within the autistic community, but we can't do it alone. We need your help, whether in cash or kind, to continue our vital activities. Your generous donations will enable us to provide referrals and connect patients with therapists and doctors who can offer the assistance they need. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go a long way in helping us make a difference in the lives of those we serve. Together, we can create a brighter future for our community.

Build a Autism Center
Gambia Autism Support and Advocacy Network is dedicated to establishing a much-needed autism center in The Gambia. Our goal is to provide comprehensive services including early diagnosis, specialized therapy, counseling, and support resources for children with autism and their families.
This center will serve as a vital resource to promote understanding, acceptance, and development for individuals with autism. We believe that with the right support and intervention, children with autism can reach their full potential and lead fulfilling lives.
We invite individuals, organizations, and partners to join us in this important mission. Your support whether through donations, volunteering, or advocacy can make a significant difference in the lives of many families and children across The Gambia.

Upcoming Activity
Family Fun Day at GASAN is a wonderful opportunity for families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to come together and celebrate in a supportive environment. ASD is a developmental condition that impacts communication, social interaction, and behavior, making typical community events challenging for many children on the spectrum. Family Fun Day aims to create a welcoming space where children with autism can enjoy activities tailored to their unique needs, while their parents connect with others who understand the emotional complexities of raising a child with ASD. This event not only promotes inclusivity but also helps reduce the social and sensory challenges that families often face, allowing everyone to engage, learn, and enjoy a day filled with joy and acceptance.
Help us continue our work
As autistic individuals transition through various life stages, such as moving from childhood to adolescence and into adulthood, their needs for support and accommodation can change significantly. Organizations like GASAN play a crucial role in understanding these evolving requirements and providing tailored services. Whether it's offering social skills training for teenagers, vocational guidance for young adults, or assistance in navigating independent living, GASAN strives to ensure that autistic individuals receive the appropriate resources and support to thrive in each stage of their lives. By fostering understanding and awareness within the community, GASAN empowers autistic people to achieve their full potential, emphasizing the importance of personalized accommodations that respect each individual's unique journey.
