I founded GASAN because I saw a deep need in our society for stronger awareness, compassion, and support for individuals living with Autism and their families. What inspired me most was witnessing how many parents struggle in silence, without guidance or understanding from the community. I wanted to create a platform that gives them hope, education, and a voice. GASAN was born from the belief that every child deserves dignity, opportunity, and acceptance. My motivation is to change perceptions, break stigma, and build a supportive network that ensures no child with Autism in The Gambia is ever left behind.

Abdou Majid Jallow
National Coordinator
Joining GASAN was a commitment to the fundamental rights and full inclusion of the autistic community in The Gambia. I advocate to amplify the voices that are often marginalized and to dismantle the social and structural barriers they face. I am dedicated to driving forward the mission of building a compassionate and understanding society where acceptance is universal, and where every autistic person is supported to thrive and realize their full, unique potential.

Jainaba Bittaye
Program Officer
I joined the Gambia Autism Support and Advocacy Network to support a meaningful cause and help raise awareness about autism in our community. I believe in promoting understanding, acceptance, and inclusion for individuals with autism. By being part of this organization, I want to contribute to advocacy efforts, provide support to families, and help create a more inclusive society where people with autism can access the resources and opportunities they deserve.

Maimuna P Mendy
Media & Relations Officer
In a country where autism awareness is still limited, and there is a clear gap to cover, I deemed it urgent for change. For this reason, I chose to join GASAN a youth-led movement committed to advocacy, inclusion, and education. Together, we broke barriers, promoted awareness, and advocated for acceptance.

I am Bintou Touray
I joined the organization because I genuinely want to be part of something that makes a difference. Raising awareness about Autism spectrum disorder is important to me, especially because many people still misunderstand it. I want to help promote inclusivity and acceptance so that autistic individuals feel respected, supported, and valued in our community.
